Tuckshop
The Queensland Government’s Smart Choices Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy guides the food and drink choices for school tuckshops in Queensland. The strategy is designed to promote healthy foods and drinks for children. Under the strategy, school tuckshops are required to offer a range of healthy food and drinks, consistent with the Australian Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents.

To be able to deliver our menu in accordance with the strategy, desserts are only available for second break and are limited to one item per person.

The menu changes each term, and a copy of this will be displayed in the tuckshop noticeboard. It is also shared via the newsletter, and once Qkr! has been updated leading into the new term, you will be able to see what’s on offer there.

Most of the meals prepared in the tuckshop are made fresh each day by volunteers. We pride ourselves on offering a healthy and delicious menu but we need many volunteers to do it! If you think you can help, even if for a small amount of time, please reach out to the Retail Manager to have a chat!

Opening Hours
The tuckshop is open three days a week: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. You will see the tuckshop crew from 8am to 2.30pm these days, and if you see the roller door up on Tuesdays, this is our day to prepare for the week.

Break Times
The Tuckshop aims to handout orders as quickly as possible to minimise intrusion into the students eating and/or play time.
Orders for Prep & Year 1 are delivered by the Tuckshop to their designated eating areas, all other years are required to visit the Tuckshop to collect their order.
The Tuckshop closes for collection of orders 5 minutes before play break time finishes. This is to minimise late returns to the classroom.

How to order and pay
Payment is preferred via Qkr! however we also have eftpos facilities available. All Qkr! orders (and cancellations) must be placed BEFORE 8.30am of the days the tuckshop is open.

We must be strict with this cut off time to allow the team to have time to finalise preparing food and orders for first break.

We are unable to a refund or provide credit for orders cancelled after 8.30am or orders that were left uncollected. However any ordered drinks from uncollected orders can be picked up from the tuckshop during opening hours.

Allergies!
While every care is taken during preparation to not cross contaminate allergens, there is always a risk. If your child has an allergy, please let us know either at the time of ordering or give the Retail Manager a call to discuss how we can manage the risk.
When using Qkr! there is an option to add an allergy alert to the order. There are limitations with this in terms of identifying what the allergen is so please follow up with the Retail Manager as an added precaution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does my child get their tuckshop orders? The tuckshop will deliver orders for Prep and Year 1 to the designated eating areas. Year 2 to 6 will need to come to the tuckshop to collect their order.

My child is unexpectedly leaving early today, what happens with their tuckshop order? If your child needs to leave early and they have a tuckshop order, please speak to the Retail Manager about options available. Depending on the circumstances, the order may be ready to take home when your child leaves.

What do you do if an order is left uncollected? Every effort is made to unite the order and the student, however we are limited as we operate separately to the school. We recommend reminding your child that they have tuckshop and for which break.
If the order remains uncollected it will be disposed of at the end of that day. We are unable to provide refunds for uncollected orders, however any ordered drinks can be picked up from the tuckshop during opening hours.

What happens if my child presents to the tuckshop but their order cannot be found? If a student presents to the tuckshop saying they have an order that day, and the order cannot be found, the Retail Manager will check orders placed for that day to verify if an order has been placed. Future delivery dates will also be checked to ensure an ordering mistake by the parent/caregiver hasn’t occurred.
If no order can be verified, the student will be directed to the school’s administration office and from there, a parent will be contacted to resolve the matter.
What happens if there is something wrong with the tuckshop order? Let the Retail Manager know straight away please! We want families and students to have a positive experience with tuckshop and can only address issues if we have timely contact with the family to work through what happened.

How do I speak with the Retail Manager or a P&C Executive? The Retail Manager will be onsite at school managing the uniform shop and tuckshop so if you would like to drop in during opening hours for a chat, you are most welcome!
